CrossFit programming is comprised of various Olympic weightlifting, metabolic conditioning, kettlebell and gymnastics movements. The idea is to use functional movement, perform them at high intensity relative to your current fitness level, and constantly vary the type, length, and loads to avoid a boring repetitive routine. When you come to a session all you know is you’ll be out the door again in 60 minutes or less, you wont know what the WOD (workout of the day), skill or strength work you’ll be doing is so you wont have all day to talk yourself out of coming.
WOD’s can range from 2min through to 40mins but the bulk coming in at 7-12mins, the rest of the session is made up of a warm up, stretching and mobilisation, skill and strength work to learn, build on, and increase strength in all the foundational and skill transfer movements and exercises, and a warm down.
If this all sounds a bit daunting or confusing, you don’t need to worry, our instructors are in control of all classes to help you through, correct your form, and cheer you on. CrossFit works for all fitness levels, ages, or weights, so whether you’re an elite athlete looking to supplement existing training or you’ve been sitting on the couch for the last few years and just want to be able to walk around the block without stopping, CrossFit could be for you. The class format helps build a team environment and everyone ends up supporting each other through the workouts.
